Different Types of Coffee Filter

Coffee filter is a type of coffee accessory that is used in the brewing process. This is a very helpful accessory in the coffee making process because it eliminates the disturbing particles of coffee. These particles are quite irritating if not removed and they dampen the enjoyment of the person drinking the coffee.

Traditional filters that are used in coffee making are cloth and paper. But innovations have now provided the market with a wide variety of choices.

Paper filters are very suitable in removing ground from the coffee. And because of the very small pores of the paper filters, they also perform the job of eliminating some of the coffee flavor. This makes paper filters suitable for being used in brewing lower grade coffee powder. The paper filters are disposed together with the coffee grounds after use.

Cloth filters have pores slightly bigger than those of the paper filters. They are made from natural cotton muslin and they are unbleached. They remove almost if not all of the grounds from the coffee and some of the flavor, making the rich taste just right. Properly used cloth filters can last up to 4 months. After using it, just dispose the grounds and rinse it well with water. It will naturally undergo discoloration but the performance is still good.

Another type of coffee filter is the gold tone filter. This is made of treated stainless steel. They are treated in order to eliminate the taste of metal from the coffee. This type of coffee filter does not remove the coffee flavor, thus giving you the maximum coffee taste for your type of coffee powder. But it can also remove some of the finer ground. This filter can be purchased with a shape that can matches the filter cone. Just choose the shape suitable for your coffee maker. Gentle care and proper cleaning will ensure that your gold filter will work longer.

A swiss gold coffee filter is much the same with the typical gold tone filters except that they are plated with 23-karat gold.

For maximum coffee enjoyment, just choose the right coffee filter that will work best for your preference.
